Mouse pointer jumps

A problem with a laser mouse is it jumps around the screen randomly if there is a pattern on your mouse mat or desk.

If either are too shiny or even glass, the laser reflects incorrectly on these type of surfaces making the pointer jump around the screen.

Other problems with mice include back and forward button on the side of the mouse.

Sometimes these are clicked in error, if you go into the mouse settings:-

Control Panel --> Mouse

you can usually disable these buttons.
