Windows 7 Network Shortcuts disappear

Any Network Shortcuts keep disappearing from your Desktop

Microsoft in their wisdom decided to Enable A Cleanup Task as default on Windows 7 to delete Broken Links.
When this runs, if the Server or Network Drive is not visible the Shortcut is deleted.

To Disable this Task, do the following:-

  1. Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Task Scheduler

  2. Start Task Scheduler
  3. Expand the plus sign on Left Hand side to display Task Scheduler Library Microsoft Windows Diagnosis

  4. On the right hand pane, Right Click on "Scheduled" and Select "Disable"

  5. Disable Task
  6. Now Close the Window

This should keep all broken links on your desktop
