Cut and Paste How can I cut and Paste? In this test we will COPY instead of CUT do not worry about the difference for now, click the link at the bottom of the page to find out more To cut or copy some text you need to first Highlight it by using your mouse. To see how to do this try clicking to the left of the number "1" below Hold down the mouse button and drag the mouse to the right until you reach the number "9" Once you get to the right hand side of the "9" release your mouse click the text should now be highlighted 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9Once the text is highlighted i.e. colours are reversed or background is BLACK or BLUE You can copy the text using the <CTRL> and the X keys both together or Click Edit --> Copy"at the top of the screen or Right Click on the Highlighted number --> Click Copy If you cannot see Edit tap the <ALT> on your keyboard When you copy you will see nothing happens on the screen, however the hightlighted text is copied into the CLIPBOARD of your computer, an unseen area which stores the data/text copied To paste the text/data click the area where you want to paste the text/data It has to be an place which allows you to enter characters using your keyboard e.g. the text box below (White rectangle) Click on it now and you will see the cursor in the text box Now use <CTRL> and the V keys to paste the text or Click EDIT --> Paste" at the top of the screen or You can right click the mouse then click PASTE Well done you have now pasted some text You can use this method in all software, WORD, NOTEPAD, EMAIL etc The keys CTRL"with" X (COPY)" C (CUT)" V(PASTE) can be used in almost any area on your computer What is the difference between CUT and COPY USEFUL HINT : If you cannot see Edit at the top of the screen, then press the ALT key on your keyboard, it should appear (MENU BAR) IP | ||||
