How to set up email in outlook Setting up email in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook express varies depending on which email provider you use. Most email providers will allow you to receive email using what is called their pop3 server. Some will allow you to send email without checking your account details, others will require the details, this is called authentication. When setting up the email account an extra box needs to be checked to do this. This box is labelled "My Server requires authentication" or "My outgoing server requires authentication" IMPORTANT NOTE: The outgoing server, known as the SMTP Server, in most cases has to be your broadband provider's server TALK TALK POP3 and SMTP Settings username: full email address pop3: mail.talktalk.net smtp: smtp.talktalk.net authentication: not required ports: use default values 110 and 25 Virgin Media Accounts NTLWORLD username: account or mailbox name not email address pop3: pop.ntlworld.com smtp: smtp.ntlworld.com authentication: not required ports: use default values 110 and 25 Blue Yonder username: account or mailbox name not email address pop3: pop3.blueyonder.co.uk smtp: smtp.blueyonder.co.uk authentication: required ports: Incoming 995 Outgoing 465 Click SLL on both Incoming and Outgoing (SEE BELOW) Zen POP3 and SMTP Settings username: full email address pop3: mailhost.zen.co.uk smtp: mailhost.zen.co.uk authentication: required ports: use default values 110 and 25 BT Internet POP3 and SMTP Settings username: full email address pop3: mail.btinternet.com smtp: smtp.btinternet.com authentication: required ports: use default values 110 and 25 BT Yahoo username: use part of email address before the @ sign pop3: mail.btinternet.com smtp: smtp.btinternet.com authentication: required ports: use default values 110 and 25 IP | ||||
