What is a temporary internet file and what is its purpose ? When you look at a page on a website you are actually looking at a copy of the page in a temporary file on your computer. This file is created when you first click on a link to the web page or enter the web page address in your browser. A copy of the page is requested ad all the text, graphics and pictures are sent to your PC. You will notice that the next time you request the page it may appear much quicker or even appear if your internet connection is not connected, this is beause the page has been saved offline or in a hidden area in memory on your computer called cache.
